On May 13th, Stable Seas held a virtual launch event for the recently released report Stable Seas: Bay of Bengal. The event was hosted by the Observer Research Foundation and the UNODC-Global Maritime Crime Programme. More than sixty participants heard a brief presentation on the report’s key findings, listened to reactions to the report from regional maritime security experts, and engaged in a question and answer session on the policy implications of the report’s findings. The event sparked conversations about the next steps for addressing maritime security in the region including how to deal with the challenge of Covid 19, improving regional maritime domain awareness, maritime security capacity building, and the state of regional port security.
