The Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia have striven to improve maritime domain awareness in the Sulu and Celebes seas by integrating geospatial data acquisition technologies into their information-gathering systems. The information collected through unmanned aerial vehicles and satellites allows government officials to increase efficient resource allocation to areas threatened by illicit actors like insurgent groups, arms traffickers and human smugglers.
