The Future of Philippine Maritime Enforcement

Maritime Enforcement in the Philippines

In this article, Stable Seas Research Intern Michael van Ginkel lends interesting insight into the findings derived from a policy workshop that Stable Seas conducted in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Pathways to Progress in Manila. Several maritime enforcement mechanisms have been established to tackle the persistent trend of piracy and armed robbery in the Sulu and Celebes Seas. By continuing to strengthen civil-military collaboration and linking more land operations to sea-based strategies, van Ginkel argues that the Philippines will be able to achieve stronger maritime enforcement capabilities.
